TEFL Certificate = Passport to the world

Hello People - I hope the world is treating you well; for those in the far sub canadian north you can't imagine what it's like suffocating in heat in late january (or maybe you would like to depending on your current body temperature).  From what I gather it's been a pretty solid winter as far as snow temp is concerned.  Though I've checked and Boulder is at that heavenly perfect 55 with 6inches on the ground, hard to beat that.

Anywho, I just got out of a meeting with the director of the language institute where I am taking classes and his little schpiel re-opened my eyes about the possibilities an english teaching certificate creates.  6 months in peru, hop over to Cape Town for the Cup then move up to the middle east for a year long job in Saudi Arabia that pays 40 k a year, 6 weeks paid vacay, and pays for two roundtrip flights to wherever you want a year.  Then of course a relaxing holiday in thailand then to a cruise ship - all the while hypothetically saving money, because all of these places pay well for their struggling teachers.   Unfortunately latin America is the worst place to teach english if money ranks high on your bookshelf of happiness, but than again I don't even have a bookshelf yet so I'm not too worried.

I graduate on friday then trying to make a trip to Uruguay to catch some of these Argentines in their summer vacation spirit, cause back here in BA the city is empty.  Apparently everyone likes to sip coladas beachside?

Mikey D you coming down for a visit.  Anyone else interested in checking the Mendoza, where the wine flows like beer and the beer is fermented from high altitude grapes.

My Situation

Okay everybody, I know you've been biting your nails, or sweating bullets, or whatever your nervous tick may be.  I will be staying in BA for at least the next four months because I am starting an internship in the creative department at DDB Argentina in two weeks.  I have to finish my TEFL(Teach English Foreign Language) certificate course before I can begin dropping idea bombs in poorly articulated spanish though.

The Tefl course is actually pretty sweet itself.  The institute where I am receiving my education on a language I now realize I hardly knew, is located in the psuedo-suburbs and offers free english classes to local residents.  These classes are the means through which we learn how to teach english.  So the locals get free english lessons ranging from basic beginner all the way up to advanced intermediate (which basically means the can speak and understand a fluid conversation on a range of topics, except maybe biophysical nanolinguistics)

Teaching english to people who want to learn is both fun and rewarding, I heard students I taught use some of the language I taught them after class in the lounge, modal verb phrases to be exact but they were using the tactics I taught them, pretty amazing feeling actually.  Just wait until I got them spitting some of that bro speak though...
